Physicians
Documents required to apply for new professional license mentioned in Part I 1.2. Each licensure applicant must meet the mentioned educational and practical experience conditions to be licensed to practice profession in the private healthcare sector.
1. General Practitioner
1.1 M.B.B.S. / MBChB or equivalent from a recognized medical school
1.2 Completing Internship programme is a compulsory requirement (Not included in the practical experience after graduation).
1.3 Four years experience after completing Internship programme
1.4 Pass DOHMS assessment.
1.5 Can practice in hospitals, Day surgical centers, schools, industrial area, construction companies, labour camps, hotels and rural area
1.6 Can practice in polyclinic with not less than five different specialties (excluding dental specialty), he/she must have recent experience in GP practice not less than two years in addition to point 1.3 requirements.
1.7 To apply fill LSD form No. 02 (Health Professional Licensure Form) and LSD form No. 03 (Application for Licensure Form).
2. Registrar
2.1 M.B.B.S. / MBChB or equivalent from a recognized medical school
2.2 First part of recognized membership/fellowship/board or equivalent in any medical field or diploma (not less than a one year course)
2.3 Five (5) years practical experience after obtaining M.B.B.S. degree or its equivalent (including internship /first part and/or postgraduate diploma years)
2.4 Pass the DOHMS assessment.
2.5 Can practice in hospitals, Day surgical centre where at least one permanent consultant/specialist of the same specialty is licensed.
2.6 To apply fill LSD form No. 02 (Health Professional Licensure Form) and LSD form No. 03 (Application for Licensure Form).
3. Specialist
3.1 M.B.B.S. / MBChB or equivalent from a recognized medical school
3.2 Higher specialty certificate (membership/fellowship or equivalent) or specialty certificate equivalent to Master degree.
3.3 Minimum of three years practical experience after obtaining higher specialty certificate, holders of specialty certificate equivalent to Clinical Master degree, require at least five years practical experience in relevant specialty after obtaining the qualification.
3.4 Holder of specialty in Family Medicine e.g. MRCGP, Arab Board are exempted from experience requirements after obtaining the qualification
3.5 Publication of at least one scientific paper in peer-review journals or accepted research
3.6 Pass DOHMS assessment.
3.7 To apply fill LSD form No. 02 (Health Professional Licensure Form) and LSD form No. 03 (Application for Licensure Form).
4. Consultant
4.1 M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) / M.BChB or equivalent from a recognized medical school.
4.2 Obtained higher specialty certificate e.g. membership/fellowship or equivalents recognized by DOHMS. (Holders of certificates equivalent to Masters Degrees or Diploma degrees are not eligible to apply for this title).
4.3 Five years of practical experience in the field after obtaining a specialty certificate provided that at least four years of this experience being in a hospital or attached to it.
4.4 Publication of at least two scientific papers in peer-review journals or accepted research or a professor in a recognized university in the same field
4.5 Active participating since being a consultant in CME activities or scientific activities locally and internationally
4.6 Pass DOHMS assessment.
4.7 To apply fill LSD form No. 02 (Health Professional Licensure Form) and LSD form No. 03 (Application for Licensure Form).
5. Visiting Consultant
5.1 Should fulfill the requirements of consultant title
5.2 Pass DOHMS assessment.
5.3 License is issued for one month (may be renewed)
5.4 To apply fill LSD form No. 02 (Health Professional Licensure Form) and LSD form No. 03 (Application for Licensure Form).
