Assistant Head, Medical Records Services
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head, Medical Records Services


BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for all phases of daily operations including staffing, personnel management, maintaining productivity andwork quality.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:


Organizes the management of activities, such as coding, processing, computer data input, retrieval, filing, research and release of information.


Plans and manages storage, retrieval, and preservation of medical records. Monitors systems, activities and

equipment.

Assists and advises personnel of other departments in complying with Medical Records policies, procedures and

requirements.

Review and modifies daily work activities of the department.  Ensures proper work standards. Prepares reports

and furnishes required statistical data.

Studies departmental procedures. Assists with updating departmental procedures and policies.

Assists with staff development and orientation programs

Participates with development, implementation and maintenance of policies, developing and implementing

projects and programs to assist in accomplishing of established goals and preparation of departmental budget

and planning

Works cooperatively with the Director and co-managers and actively participates in meetings representing the

Department

Interviews candidates and makes necessary recommendations for employments.

Implements and monitors all safety procedures.

Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

Participates in self and others' education, training and development, as applicable.

Performs other related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or Associates in related discipline required. Registration with

American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) required.


EXPERIENCE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Six (6) years of related experience with a BS degree required including two (2) years in supervisory capacity.

This is a one-time payment made upon your final departure from the Hospital and is accrued throughout your tenure within the Hospital. Severance pay accrues at a rate of 15 days pay for each of your first four years and 30 days pay for the fifth and subsequent years
